Each year, the EBAA is proud to award various grants, scholarships, and fellowships to individuals who strive to carry out and promote the EBAA mission of restoring sight worldwide. These various grant and funding opportunities provide individuals with funds to complete innovative research, attend various educational events, and the possibility to learn from experts in the eye banking community.
Grants
EBAA annually awards funds to promote scientific research in the fields of eye banking and corneal transplantation and to promote collaboration between eye banks. Through our grants, EBAA provides support for grant proposals specifically concerned with issues directly related to eye banking and/or corneal transplantation.
Pilot Research Grants
The Pilot Research Grant funds early-stage research, short-term protocols or pilot projects. Multiple grants are awarded, and the maximum award is $7,500.
High Impact Research Grant
To advance innovation and knowledge in sight restoration, eye banking and cornea transplantation, this grant funds one proposal at $50,000.
EyeFind Grants
Provide supplemental funding in grants of up to $5,000 per project to researchers to procure human eye tissue samples from eye banks for use in a well-conceived research project. The applicant must demonstrate financial need related to procuring and using human eye tissue to continue their research.
Scholarships & Fellowships
Mary Jane O’Neill Fellowship in International Eye Banking
The Mary Jane O’Neill Fellowship will bring one individual to the United States for a 2 week period during June to attend the EBAA Annual Meeting and work with a host EBAA member eye bank.
Corza Medical Scholarship
The Corza Medical Scholarship provides airfare, meeting registration and lodging to the recipient.
APABO TES Scholarship
The APABO TES Scholarship provides complimentary registration for up to 5 individuals from Central or South America.
